Meat Free Monday: New Vegetarian Menu Options!

Vegetarian and vegan diets are becoming more and more popular – and for good reason! A diet full of beautiful fresh fruit and veg is not only good for our health, but it’s great for our planet.

We’ve been listening to your feedback about wanting more vegetarian meal options so we’ve introduced vegetarian menus in all of our calorie options: 1200, 1500 and 1800 calories.

These meals are also available to be subbed into our regular menus, so you can make Meat Free Monday as easy as possible!

What’s Meat Free Monday?

“Launched by Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney in 2009, Meat Free Monday is a not-for-profit campaign which aims to raise awareness of the detrimental environmental impact of eating meat, and to encourage people to help slow climate change, preserve precious natural resources and improve their health by having at least one meat-free day each week,” says www.meatfreemondays.com

Why choose vegetarian?

As you may have heard, a United Nations report found that emissions from livestock make up 18% of all greenhouse gas emissions – this is more than every form of transportation combined!

You may have also recently heard that the World Health Organization has classified red meat as probably carcinogenic to humans.

Two great reasons to cut back on meat and get on board with Meat Free Mondays!

We totally understand that changing your diet and lifestyle is hard to do – eating habits die hard. So we wanted to make it as simple as possible for you to start including more plant-based meals in your diet.

You can either choose a complete vegetarian menu, or you can swap out a few meals a week (maybe start with Mondays?) to veggie options – easy!

And don’t worry, Chef Good hasn’t left anything on the table with these meals! A whole bunch of creativity and passion is packed into each one, no boring veg to see here.

Here’s an example day on our 1500 calorie vegetarian menu:

  • Breakfast: Smoked breakfast beans, crumbled feta, six-grain sourdough toast, butter
  • Lunch: Pumpkin, cumin & ricotta filo bake
  • Dinner: Paneer saag, crispy onion & almond pilaf
  • Snack: Apple & Mixed Berry Crumble
